Steve Ramage
Vice Chair / Building Manager
I have vast knowledge and experience of working within the voluntary sector and started as a young volunteer for people with learning disabilities whist completing my Duke of Edinburgh gold award starting at the age of 16.
I hold an NVQ level 3 in promoting independence in young people. Also have the Advanced Diploma in the organisation of community groups.
I have previously been an activities officer for people with learning disabilities, Project Manager for Wigan Mencap and Team leader / Field support supervisor within a supported living service, and I continue today as volunteer and building manager of Hallgate House.
Joyce Davies
Secretary / Volunteer Coordinator
I have a wide range of knowledge and experience working within the voluntary and private sector supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and complex needs along with experience of working with the elderly within a residential setting or their own homes, along with young people and adults with mental health issues and dementia.
I have successfully whilst a volunteer gained my NVQ level 3 in Promoting Independence along with most recently my level 2 in food Hygiene, I greet members and friends on our club night taking subs and I am always on hand for advise and support.
Maureen Ramage
Treasurer / Administration
I have a wide range of knowledge and experience of working with people with learning disabilities whilst working in the community and for the last 15 years I have worked for the NHS. As a volunteer I have completed my NVQ level 3 along with other training courses.
I run the facebook page for Wigan Stars and help to produce the weekly club programme along with helping to coordinate the training programmes for our volunteers and members.

Whilst working in various roles within the sector of people with learning disabilities and complex need I am a highly experienced leader in relationship and stakeholder management, with significant skills and experience in people management, service delivery and programme management within the statutory and voluntary sectors. Skilled in change management and able to combine knowledge. .
Whilst working with National Mencap for over 21 years have specialised in the development of tools and opportunities with and for people with learning disabilities to enable them to maximise their life chances.
