I have been supporting two gentleman to attend Wigan Stars for the past 3 years, both of them, absolutely love coming each week. Their evening starts with something to eat at club followed by the club activity for the night. There is always a variety of meals each week along with lots of good items in the tuck shop and the dining area gives everyone the chance to socialise. Once the evening activity begins upstairs they can expect discos, a singer, bingo, quizzes, arts and crafts etc, along with local community events. There is always a fun and friendly atmosphere and its always an enjoyable evening by everyone. It’s the volunteers who really set Wigan Stars apart, Steve is very much the front and centre with his larger than life and endearing personality, it’s no surprise that he’s loved by all that attends. There are many other volunteers who help to make Wigan Stars what it is and each and every one of them are a credit to Wigan Stars. I have always felt incredibly welcomed and felt part of the family here and this is something that is extended to everyone . Wigan Stars really is a fantastic place to go and it’s no surprise to hear that they have volunteers who have achieved over 25 years of volunteering and have received a long term award from Wigan Stars at Christmas 2024 for their dedication to volunteering for people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
