Volunteering
"Hi, my name is Gabby and I have started volunteering at Wigan Stars in April 2023 as part of work experience for my university degree. On my first day, I was really anxious as I was unsure of how service user will interact with me considering English is not my first language and also as previous experience was not so great. I can say I was made to feel at ease by staff members and also service users. I was received with big smiles every Wednesday and considered a part of Wigan Stars family. Maureen, Joyce and Steve ensured I am always included in their activities and treated me as their own. I decided to remain a volunteer as I appreciate the amazing work they do for the community and how they go above and beyond for their service users."
